Elysha, in reguards to your question, white tigers in the wild are exetremely rare, there is about 1 born to every 10,000 births. However white tigers are commonly seen in captivity due to inbreeding and hybrid breeding that orinate from 2 seperate bloodlines in india and america. But many people do not know that the white tiger is a mutant, caused by a recessive gene. People also don’t know about the problems caused by inbreeding. As the desired outcome is the white coat, father to daughter and father to granddaughter combos for example are used to produce more white cubs. But many of these cubs are born heavily derformed and are destoryed as they arnt considered fit to be exhibited.
The breeding of white tigers in captivity is for profit (in zoo’s or safari parks) or for greater zoological status, which in many peoples eyes is immoral and unfair to the consavation of the remaining sub-species.
